This blog site is used by my 5/6 grade literacy students. We integrate our literacy with our social studies learning so connections to our writings are connected to this site also. We use this blog to communicate our literacy and social studies experiences. It is our hope that it will be an interactive blog with relevant comments peer to peer and also family members, other educators, and/or interested people. Our blog will continue to change with our learning.

Racing in the Rain
I think the theme of this book is friendship, because the whole thing is about friendship. Enzo ( the dog) has a really big effect on the family, Enzo says that he will protect and take care of Zoe, he is not only the family dog, he is the family friend. He is always there for them but the thing is that he can't talk. Although he protects Zoe, Eve and Danny. Right now Enzo knows that Eve has a illness but since he can't talk there is no way that they can find that out. Eve was sick and she didn't know what to do, she grabbed Eve and some clothes and left the house without Enzo while Danny was at a race. When Danny got home he was furious, Eve hadn't taken Enzo and left him at the house with no food, water, or ways to go to the bathroom outside for three days! I made a connection to Danny because I would have been very, very mad if someone did that to my dog. I think that Danny and Eve will make up, and I hope Eve is okay with her illness.
