Taking Control it is about basketball.
Quote from the text:
"Uncle Robert came back and he was holding a basketball. "You play Akil?" "Why because I'm tall?"Uncle Robert got quiet. He took a breath. "There's a court down the street," he said. He tossed the ball to Akil. "Want to go"?
Thinking Strategy:
I think they are going to play basketball. I think Uncle Robert played basketball when he was a kid.
So What?
This means they are both good at basketball. Uncle Robert wants to play basketball with Akil, I play because I good at it. Mr. Traynor plays basketball with me because its fun. Uncle Robert and Akil are going to have fun playing basketball.
This blog site is used by my 5/6 grade literacy students. We integrate our literacy with our social studies learning so connections to our writings are connected to this site also. We use this blog to communicate our literacy and social studies experiences. It is our hope that it will be an interactive blog with relevant comments peer to peer and also family members, other educators, and/or interested people. Our blog will continue to change with our learning.
I think you did a good at explaining yourself
