Writing Work

In writing we have focused our learning on ideas, organization, and conventions.  We discussed how to "funnel" a topic to make it focused enough to use it in our writing.  After funneling our topic, generated ideas through webbing.

We have been working on organization of our writing.  We know that informational writing (expository) is organized with an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.  We also know that narrative writing is organized with a beginning, a middle, and an end.

When comparing the two types of writing, we know that narrative writing tells a story, but expository writing gives facts and teaches.

Both types of writing are created through the writing process cycle.  That means we brainstorm ideas, draft,   revise, edit, publish.  But it is a cycle so we can start back at the top and make our writing better and better.
